I was watchin’ M. Ward & Okkervil River on Austin City Limits this morning, and somehow slid over onto the internet, where I discovered that the PBS website is showing the pilot episode of ACL — Willie Nelson in 1974. That’s like discovering gold:

This amazing song is from a 1982 double album called The Winning Hand that features Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Dolly Parton, and Brenda Lee (duets and solos). The song is just loaded with 1982 production values, but in my opinion it’s a rare case of them adding to a song.
