Today’s Vegetables:
Thinking The World Was Mine To Be Lost In

by Kevin Vegetables on December 16, 2009

Okay, now I’m really back. We gots a lotsa catchin up to do, you and I, so the timing of this treat is superb.

Like me, you’ve probably worn your copy of Midlake’s The Trials Of Van Occupanther down to a nubbin, so you’re eagerly anticipating their upcoming LP The Courage Of Others. Especially since you read that Pitchfork interview that frontman Tim Smith said he’s been listening to a lot of Pentangle and Fairport Convention, and trying for that sort of “fair maiden” quality in Midlake’s music (cue excited squealing).

So good news, dear hearts: a 12″ single of two tracks from The Courage Of Others is available in independent record stores right now, and what’s even more right-now is that here they are. And yes, they’re fucking great.

Midlake – Acts Of Man

Midlake – Rulers, Ruling All Things

The Courage Of Others is out February 2, and SF locals will find them at the Great American Music Hall on March 4 (tickets on sale this Sunday).

Amazing… Simply breathtaking. Midlake have the incredible quality of pulling you by the ears, head first into a land you never imagined you could experience, yet somehow with their music you’re there, engaged, and ready to walk away with a new and exciting experience. Definitely cannot wait for the new record.
