How far we gonna go back? OK, maybe not way back, but back. Back to a time when loudfastruled, I hadn’t heard of The Cure, and I was seriously disappointed to find out how poppy they were when listened to The Head On The Door.
But hey, there were girls involved, so I stuck it out and Robert Smith wormed his sloppy little way into my heart (grating, overly-horned remix of the just-fine-as-it-is “Close To Me” notwithstanding).
Today’s Veg was winner for me right off the bat, though, with its thick fog of mystery, violence, tragedy, and sex — it might have told Robert Smith how it felt to be new, but it told me how it felt to be 16.

…and here’s the young, angry Robert I soon discovered and adored:

an oldie but a goodie! thanks!!
Dude, it looked like my hair in philly roughly 1986…brings back some interesting memories…
I saw Robert Smith play with Siouxsie and the Banshees at the tower theatre, front row seats. It kicked some mighty death-head ass…Sisters of Mercy, Joy Division,The Church…I’ll have tot think a little while longer as I no longer own any of the albums from the past…
On Monday I almost bought The Cures first album with Grinding Halt etc…
