Today I come to praise pop and fun. Partly because to the amazing triple-bill of joy I caught last night (more on that soon), but mostly because of Australian band Bluejuice, who’ve been kicking around in my head for the past couple weeks.
There’s just something contagious about guys having fun — not the “party” kind of fun, but the kind where you let your pretenses and defenses down and just commit yourself to having a ball.
Bluejuice seem to be really enjoying themselves, and their sense of fun combined with their love of thickly produced pop gives me a gentle whiff of The Darkness — only instead of riding the one-way cocaine train to Hell and back, these men are dedicated to healthier pursuits:
