I’m sure I’ve said this many times, but I dig festivals because they give me a chance to drop in and say hi to people who were important to me as a youngun. I was hell of into Hüsker Dü’s New Day Rising, so I’m glad to have the opportunity to see Bob Mould (Sunday, 4:45).
It looks like he’s not playing the “ignore the past” game, so we can probably expect to hear some “I Apologize” or “Celebrated Summer,” which will be plenty good enough for me.
Today’s Vedge is from Mould’s first solo album. The first time I heard this melody come out of the radio it was like being grabbed inside my head. And that guitar solo! And the pain! 1989 in the house! If he kicks this one out really loud, I can pretty much guarantee a little weeping. Avert your eyes if you’re not into that sort of thing.

Oh my God, Bob looks awesome! Tell him I said, Hi!
I’m glad you think that because my new beard is bearing a shocking resemblance…
