OK, back to the present era, in a sense.
There are few git-tarrists held in such high estimation in these parts as the one and only Deke Dickerson, who first blew our minds as part of the legendary Dave & Deke Combo (and subsequently as the mighty Donut Prince). Fella can pick like nobody’s business, and his guitar is either a time machine or some sort of Dr. Frankenstein, because when you see him play either you’re transported back in time or he’s resurrecting the sounds of the great guitarists of the past.
It feels good to see a man that talented rise to the top, and Deke’s the cream, lovers — record magnate, Bob Dylan interviewee, guitar-geek guru … he’s even written the liner notes for Bear Family‘s authoritative Merle Haggard box sets.
The boy sure do have a way with words. Last time we had a visit from ol’ Deke, he was rhapsodizin’ ’bout chicken, but this time he’s got a lady on his mind…

As if he needed more accomplishments, did I mention he’s the current regent of eefin’?
What’s eefin?
and here’s Mac Davis (the impatient should jump to :30):
Anything more I could say would just be cribbed from Greg G.’s DEFINITIVE post on eefin’ (featuring plenty o’ Deke) at my beloved WFMU’s Beware Of The Blog.
