Today’s Vegetable:
If Not Today, Then Maybe Tomorrow

by Kevin Vegetables on August 18, 2009

jj n° 2Hot damn, dear hearts, somethin’s in the Swedish water.

Much in the way that people moved to San Francisco in the late 60s to be hippies, or moved to Seattle in the 90s to be goatees, I’m moving to Sweden to be a pop genius.

Yet another stellar release on Gothenburg’s Sincerely Yours, jj’s jj n° 2 cherry-picks pieces from multiple styles (including those reverby female vocals that made me all moony in the late 80s) and effortlessly constructs a pleasant concoction that helps you hang on.

jj – From Africa To Málaga from jj n° 2

[jj is a clandestine operation, so no web page]

http://www.sincerelyyours.se – order directly from the label! One Euro from every order goes to the World Wildlife Fund.

PS – It was a close call between “From Africa To Málaga” and “Ecstasy,” jj’s dreamy gangsta candy flip, so why not go listen to “Ecstasy” over at Pitchfork’s Best New Tracks playlist? (Currently #20)
