There’s been a lot of reminiscin’ around here lately, but here’s the most reminiscinest: Remember when women in rap resented being called bitches and treated like meat? Doesn’t that seem like a long time ago?
I’m all for some filthiness in my rap, but it just seems so homogeneous these days. I’m sure it’s a lot easier to make a dollar playing to teenagers’ fantasies than by … anything else, but it’s not like the female diss records were Women’s Studies lectures — they were hella fun!
I especially love songs where the men invite the women into the song to trade back and forth. It makes the whole scenario more lighthearted.
Anyways, blahbitty blah, but this is the greatest ever. Twenty years later, I’m still bummed that I never heard from The Danger Zone again.
It’s time to unwind.
Oh yeah, and
