Comet Gain

Lately, when I’m not pretending that I’m in Belle & Sebastian, I’m pretending that I’m in Comet Gain.

Yet another rock victim of my mid-90s folk/bluegrass/hip-hop period, Comet Gain just came to my attention recently, with last year’s release of Broken Record Prayers (a compilation of singles, rarities, and new material recorded between 1998 and 2008).

Regret? Sure, a little. But now I’ve got a whole lifetime of a fantastic band to delve into. It’s gonna be a pretty sweet summer.

There are many different sounds and styles on Broken Record Prayers, so it’s impossible to pick a representative track, but I think you’ll like this one from 2008.
