You can’t say Colin Meloy doesn’t know and appreciate his pop. He’s put out several solo EPs covering other artists: Sam Cooke, Shirley Collins, and our beloved Morrissey, who turns 50 today (So many years left!).
I’m always thrilled to see Morrissey get a lil’ love, so when Colin Meloy worked the last verse of this tune into “We Both Go Down Together” at the Decemberists show Wednesday night, I got a wee bit swoony.
Anyways, dear hearts, when they’ve bought you and they’ve sold you and they’ve billed you for the pleasure, and they’ve made your parents cry, I will be here. Believe me.
