Ctrl-z & Screwface

Really good, listen-all-the-way-through breakbeat albums (not mixes, but so-called “artist albums”) are hecka hard to come by, yeah? Off the top of my head I’m thinking the Freestylers’ all-time classic Raw As F**k, Saturday Night Lotion by the Plumpers… and … yeah, dance music’s a singles game by nature. It’s hard to provide enough variety to justify an album while not straying too far from the sound that brought people to you in the first place.

All the more reason to be excited that Ctrl-Z & Screwface have put together a delightful treat of an album in the endlessly named Ctrl-Z & Screwface Present Stereo:Type: What’s That Noize!?. Beats galore, different vocal styles (and not too much singing, thank you), and a real sense of fun. That’s what it’s about, right? Sí.

Bonus Giggles

I can’t resist putting this clip up from the song “What’s That Noize!?” featuring Beardyman. There’s something about the way he yells “SHUH UHP!” that kills me.

I can’t wait until the neighbors are noisy. Or maybe I’ll just start using it in normal conversation.
