This song is right up Tor’s alley. It’s like the Platonic ideal of what music that Tor enjoys sounds like.
Saw these guys as the unknown openers for I can’t even remember who at a Paradise Lounge show in the late-90s and they’ve been on heavy rotation at Tor’s house ever since. Were you at that show, Kev-dog? Who was the headliner? Maybe Fu Manchu?
I saw them as openers to noted vaudevillians and Hall Of Fame Vegetables NOFX at the Trocodero. Singing drummer + trombone = me happy. Maybe that was the show? First band on the bill was Mustard Plug (showed up too late to see them, but I think of them every time I make a sandwich).
On a side note, they must be the Platonic ideal of what music that Fat Mike likes sounds like too, because he gave them a huge bonus to get the band back together in 1995 and make this album.
I haven’t dove into the other Snuff records as much (I’d really like to hear the earlier stuff), but Demmamussabebonk is an album I can listen to front-to-back on repeat.
