This one goes out to my main man and very own brother Xian, who floated me a mix yesterday that reminded me what a Great And Powerful song this is (props to songwriter Gary White). It seems to me that the 8-track deck in the family car was always kicking tragic stories of love and loss out of the speakers. (Which is why Ampex pays for my Wellbutrin prescription.)
It’s hard for me to think of Linda Ronstadt without thinking of her tales of struggling to stay miserably thin in order to maintain her pop-star status. And when one is, say, searching the internet for pictures of her, one can’t help but notice how many of her 1970s pictures have her posing in this sort of wide-eyed helpless (and possibly brainless) sex-target fashion.
I’m not sure what it all means, but to quote Circus Magazine’s Phil Morris, “any girl who likes pigs and unrestrained breasts can’t be all bad.”
1970 in the heezy!
