You’re The One Who’s Supposed To Know Her Way Around

Jimmy Webb’s Wikipedia entry calls Glen Campbell “the finest interpreter of Jimmy Webb songs,” and I would have to say that “interpeter” is the perfect word choice, because who knows what Jimmy Webb is talking about most of the time?

That’s not a slight (at least not in my universe) — I’m about as big a Jimmy Webb fan as you’ll find, and to paraphrase Steve Earle, I’d stand on Jehovah’s coffee table in my underwear and custom orthotics and tell Him that “Wichita Lineman” is the finest love song ever written.

Which somehow brings me to today’s Vedge. The 70s seemed to be filled with delicious, bittersweet pop songs about loss and regret, and I blame them for the way I am, but I wouldn’t change a thing.

[yeah, you know I wouldn't necessarily call this "country" either, but I don't like to waste time classifying, so I lean on what allmusic says...]
