Even Though You Are So Nice

DJ/RuptureDJ/Rupture’s Special Gunpowder was undeniably one of 2004’s highlights. You know how much I love an album that sounds like a mixtape, right?  Special Gunpowder contains a righteous assortment of sounds — and not an assortment like “this one’s rock, and this one’s a ballad, and this one’s kind of hip-hop.” More like “this one’s a traditional folk song, this one’s a ridiculously hard electrodancehall slammer, this is a poem, and this one’s an all-noise freakout.”

It’s like a mixtape that was made for you by the coolest person in school who will never date you.

You’ll always have the tape, though.

Today’s Vegetable is a cover of a 1995 Cocoa Tea song. Enjoy, smooches!
