Here’s a little story that must be told…
I was cooling it in this chocolate cafe (that’s right) reading a book, and I couldn’t help but overhear the couple sitting at the next table. They were talking about music, and I heard the woman say how much she liked an album by a Somali rapper. She said it was the first album in a long time that she’d gotten really really into.
I thought, “I’ll have to ask her who that is. This will be nice — communing with one of my fellow human beings about our shared passion.” So as I was leaving, I apologized for eavesdropping and said I had heard her mention a Somali rapper, and could she tell me his name?
She looked at me like I was something she had to scrape off the bottom of her shoe.
But she did tell me who it was, so I still came out on top.
