La Cocaina No Es Buena Para Su Salud

by Kevin Vegetables on May 22, 2008

Crystal CastlesOh man, I just wanted to learn a little about this song and ended up disappearing down a wormhole of hateratiousness. There are many accusations of unkind artistic behavior against Crystal Castles, and several people are devoting a lot of time to trying to bring this band down.

I’ll say this about that: hey I like this song!

Crystal Castles – Untrust Us from Crystal Castles

(legal notice: this song samples the beginning of a Death From Above 1979 song that might or might not be a sample of something else. Also it samples another part of the song that is not a sample. These samples are cleared. Listen illegally in peace.)

CC January 9, 2009 at 8:31 am

Cocaine isn’t good for you.

David January 12, 2009 at 1:56 am

Exactly:

The cocaine isn’t good for your health.

kevin January 12, 2009 at 9:12 am

Exactly.

hey! it’s a good song and an anti-drug message all in one! :D

KingMaggi January 18, 2009 at 12:20 pm

When its a Message against the usage of cocain, why the song is named ‘untrust us?’.

kevin January 19, 2009 at 10:48 am

My guess is that they were afraid that the song would be taken as a real anti-drug message, which would be uncool.

Although I suppose the lyrics aren’t strictly anti-drug, but more factual. I imagine even cocaine users would agree it’s not good for their health.

I love this song. Why are people trying to bring it down?

What that “La Cocaina no es buena para su salud” means? Can you translate it in english?

Ringo September 7, 2009 at 2:28 pm

Cocaine isn’t good for you.

However, the title reads, “Untrust Us” ;)

La cocaina es no buena para su salud
~Cocaine is not good for your health

Maria May 15, 2010 at 9:57 am

Well, maybe the title is you cant trust cocaine or cocaine users?
lol. idk
just guessing.

ananymus June 17, 2010 at 3:12 pm

stop trusting cocaine is my guess as to “untrust us”

oliver August 23, 2010 at 5:39 pm

or maybe , dont trust us when we say cocaine is bad for your health

alain January 9, 2011 at 9:27 pm

well if the name of the song is untrust us it could either mean not to trust cocaine which would be good as an advice or not to trust what would seem as an anti-drug message from them

makes a lotta sense: untrust us as in do not believe what we’re telling you
it does seem like they meant to create controversy
either way i think its cool that they tried to do something as twisted n fucked up and (i have to admit it) disturbing as this, at least it makes you think unlike most songs we have to bare nowadays :P
