Eat My Dinner You Dumb Stupid Role Model Who’s About To Rock
Three cheers for mini-festivals, where you get to see enough bands that one of them is bound to be good.
The consensus highlight of last night’s Gigantour metal extravaganza was Children Of Bodom, a Finnish band named after some teenage campers who were killed in 1960 on the shores on Lake Bodom (near the delightful town of Espoo, Finland).
High On Fire might have been great (their albums are really good), but they played at 5:30 and I don’t think anybody saw them.
Children Of Bodom have two special things about them that I love. One is that their music prominently features keyboards, which is crazy for that kind of metal. Another thing is that their singer, who also plays wicked lead guitar, is 5′5″. Tiny and badass, like a meerkat. Or maybe a red panda.
