Let’s hear it for the power of the well-written pop song and the speed of the internet. It just takes one ear, and the next thing you know, people all over the planet are saying to their friends, “Hey, homem, você ouviu esta canção nova das meninas?”
These guys just played their first show in February. Lead Girl Chris Owens is no freshman (being a member of Holy Shit and having toured with Ariel Pink), but this is his first time singing and writing lyrics on his own. I think he’s got it pretty down.
They’re putting out a 7″ this spring, but with the widespread and immediate love they’ve been getting, I imagine we’ll have a lot more Girls pretty soon. (We’ll also have to fight past hordes of lovestruck girls and boys to see their shows.)
