So the Art Brut/Hold Steady show was pretty motherflippin’ sweet. Do you know what those bands have in common? No, not shouty lead singers. I hadn’t actually noticed that. They’re both bands that sing about being in a band, which I love.
But The Hold Steady also mentions their own band name in songs, which always delights me. Art Brut does that live, but I don’t think they’ve done it on a recording. “Songs that mention the band name” is going to be a new category, once I figure out a better name for it. Suggestions are welcomed.
So since I don’t know what to call the category, I’m going to go with a Hold Steady song that doesn’t have “hold steady” in the lyrics. If anyone can tell me what exactly “the white swan” is about, I’d appreciate it. This is a needy site today. Gimme.
